Poems on
Sad

It’s your birthday but I can’t wish

a poem by Sudarshan Madhav Karhale

The cake is ready on the table
with a creamy layer of chocolate.
Many candles are lit on it
with colours of your favorite.

The lights have been turned off;
I’ve hid behind the wall-
holding my breath, full of excitement,
waiting for you to call.

The minute hand of clock is near
to the 12 o’ clock of night, my dear.
But, what comes true to my fear
is that you were not actually there.

Sadly, I sat on a chair
and gently blew the melting wax;
reminding of your intense love and care,
I leaned my head back to relax.
