Crooked Smile

a poem by Mainak Chatterjee

One of my acquaintances has recently joined politics
You can see his huge cutouts
Smiling in every nook and corner of the city

He is smiling…
Perhaps making fun of our gullibility

He is smiling…
Perhaps at the pompous and
Extravagant life awaiting for him

He frequently flaunts”V’ sign
With his golden fingers
Perhaps tempting us
To deposit our consceince in his ‘V’ote bank
