Nobody’s Fool

a poem by Akshay Joshi

For him the world is two penny worth,
For him banal work is but fortitude,
For the world good luck may be in dearth,
For him being lucky is an attitude,
For himself he alone is the world,
For the world he is a nobody’s fool.
Always happy never in dismay,
Always accepts others kicks with a kiss,
Always rightly wise men say,
Always they say ‘Ignorance is bliss’,
For himself ,he alone is the world,
For the world he’s a nobody’s fool
He belongs to all: no caste no creed,
He is always full of idiosyncrasy,
He is a friend in need a friend indeed,
He is unaware of stealth and hypocrisy
For himself he alone is the world
For the world he is a nobody’s fool.
But a fool and his luck are soon parted
But when you have nothing you have nothing to lose
But to the pursuit of wisdom are men devoted
But still to be a fool I choose
For himself he alone is the world
For the world he is a nobody’s fool.
