Forest Green

a poem by Christine Pallant

A trail leading into the middle of nowhere,
I am surrounded by a forest of green.
With leaves made of satin,
and trees shadowing the days heat.
Strong smells of pine in the air,
takes me back to fond memories of Christmas.
Such hugeness towering over head.
Limbs made so strong to withstand the test of time,
looking like and emerald city.
Some wood barren but still a home for nature.
As birds sing their unchained melodies to one another.
Hues of green disguising living creatures,
keeping them safe from danger.
A perfect place to retreat.
A forest of green, nestled back against the horizon…
Imagine what lives there and what you might see!
