Pedestal

a poem by Kevin Ghodasara

I put you on a pedestal that was up so high,
That I could not reach you.
When I tried to climb up there
And sit next to you,
I was pushed off by you.
I fell straight on a rose bush.
For a moment the thorn hurt the most
Because the rose was not there,
It was sitting on a pedestal that was up so high.

But come to think of it now,
I made an error in judgment.
It was actually the rose,
That hurt me the most which was
Sitting on a pedestal that was up so high.
And it was the thorn that made me
Learn lesson in life that never to
Put you on a pedestal up so high.
