Gone with the wind

a poem by Tanushree Nair

She came like the spring breeze,
with a perfect image of innocence;
Breaking my heart and with it
all these years I lived in silence.

Shattering the barriers and
the rigidness of the social walls;
For the first time, I felt as if
I was on top of Niagra falls.

Shocked by the stunning beauty
and the variety in Nature’s stall;
Blocked by the romantic entity and
a blind faith I WOULD NEVER FALL.

Leaving me to struggle with the commitments,
I can’t and won’t rescind;
The way she came she left, with my life,
she is gone with the wind.
