The Lost City

a poem by Suman Dodril

An archaeologist’s dream city:
Atlantis, the paradise city.

Reminder of a great civilization:
Remains only in our imagination.

Thousands of years of mystery:
Buried deep in the sands of history.

Remembered by so very few:
In our world so fresh and new.

Not as early as the stone age;
Not as cold as the ice age:

But still in time’s passage:
Leaves us a whole message.

Everything is lost in time:
We are not even worth a dime:

Make the best when we are not past:
In future, only our deeds will last.
