Kindness Pays

a poem by Mabel Annie Chacko

One dark cloud can hide sunlight;
Loose one string, the pearls are scattered;
Think one thought, a soul may perish;
Say one word, a heart may break.

Kindness has resistless charms,
All things else but weakly move;
Fiercest anger it disarms,
And clips the wings of flying love.

If friends you are seeking,
They are not hard to find-
Be sincere while speaking,
To all be kind…
