I had been waiting…

a poem by Sreejamol K

I had been waiting
Long, very long
Before you arrived
On a chilly, windy day
By my grave, fresh, green.
You placed a withered bunch
Of flowers over my grave
You didn’t kneel
You didn’t bow
You didn’t even seem
To feel the wind biting cold
You didn’t stay long
Just turned
And walked away
Down the path overgrown
I wonder
If a little spark of a tear
Flowed the brim
Of those lovely eyes
But you came
At least you came
And I won’t be here, waiting
For another you.
