My Solitude

a poem by Anamika Nath

The winds blew fiercely,
But no leaf moved!
The sun had shown brightly,
But no heart moved!

There is mistrust in every eye-
Disgusting thoughts blow like violent tides
Over the mind like the vast ocean
Stretched between the infinite space;
Through which distance runs.

No tears are shed,
No clouds are burst,
No drops of rain,
Only unbearable heat and pain!

Black clouds hide the sparkling light of the sun.
Broken fragments of life
Scattered by innumerable ages of civilization
Forgotten by the dark wisps of night
Are lost in darkness itself.
