Dreamland

a poem by Mabel Annie Chacko

Away, alone…
Far apart,
From the cities,
In the fields,
Dancing…
Singing…
Among the crops,
Even as
Light raindrops;
There was once a little girl
In a white filly frock,
And greenery was
In the backdrop,
No one saw her
Or she thought…
I’m away,
I’m far…
From the city, in a place
As green as this,
As peaceful as this.

On and on
She sang her song,
By and by
She danced,
As I watched her,
From among the hills.
What peace!
What joy!
Happiness knew no bounds,
Why not? I thought,
For she and I were
In our own
Dreamland.
