Ruff and Tuff

a poem by Adria Janae Potter

I’m a little girl whose ruff and tuff
I never cry – not one tear
I’m a little girl whose ruff and tuff
Don’t wear bows or dresses or clips
I’m a little girl whose ruff and tuff
Don’t play with dolls but GI Joes
I’m a little girl whose ruff and tuff
Don’t want a barbie but a hotwheel instead
I’m a little girl whose ruff and tuff
I’m small but strong and never wrong
I’m a little girl whose ruff and tuff
Don’t need nobody to take care of me
I’m a little girl whose ruff and tuff
Got sixteen scars; from bad cuts too
I’m a little girl whose ruff and tuff
I can do anything – even fly
I’m a little girl whose ruff and tuff
Anything you can do I can do better
I’m a little girl whose ruff and tuff
Not sweet, nice, or innocent
I’m a little girl whose ruff and tuff
Don’t mess with me and don’t talk trash
I’m a little girl whose ruff and tuff
Sticks and stones may break my bones but words will never hurt me
I’m a little girl whose ruff and tuff
Your mean and cruel words don’t matter
I’m a little girl whose ruff and tuff
I never cry – no not one tear cause
I’m a little girl whose ruff and tuff
