But somehow I can’t

a poem by

Rishbah Mishra

Holding your hands, sitting on riverside,
Seeing your eyes, like an alone shining star,
Looking at you like never seen before,
Just wanna say that I am all yours!!
But somehow I can’t…

Your wet lips and your lovelighting eyes,
I wanna hug you and say you that you are all mine,
But somehow I can’t…

Wanna kiss you with my warm wet mouth,
And say you with a fervor born of the South
That your body and soul are all mine
But somehow I can’t…

Wanna lock my eyes with you
And press your lips
Wanna dance with you in the rain.
Wanna marry you, so that you’re all mine.
But somehow I can’t…

Femme Fatale

a poem by

Swati K

The first time I saw her
The crowd had parted like the red sea

Her hair glinted like molten rubies
Those beautiful red lips stretched in a predatory smile
The blue eyes were light as a sunny sky
And the moment they met mine
My heart stopped.
I smiled

Every day, I came and sat
In the very same bench where I first laid my eyes on her
Every day, she would come looking impossibly beautiful and unattainable
Talking to a different man every day, the eyes glinting and smile teasing
Every day, her eyes would meet mine. She never smiled.

Months passed; spring turning autumn and then the snow
with wintry wind greeting me like an old lover
Her eyes had met mine
And they were, so- so cold.
The men she talked to were never seen again.

I closed my eyes

Her wrist was thin and delicate, not a single mark
Her smile was hollow, as she sat beside me
“How do you do?” she asked, as if we were old friends
I smiled and shook my head, my response already forgotten
So lost was I, in that beauty- a selfish blindness had overtook me

For a long time, we just talked
Breathy words and light whispers
Meaningless words and tired sighs
Secret smiles and coy glances
What more could I have possibly asked for?

One day, she simply lent forward
Her lips like red satin against mine
“I am so tired” she whispered brokenly in my arms
I swallowed and tenderly touched the fading scars on her back

“Do you love me?”
Her smile had felt like the first sunrise

His name was forgotten, all I saw was her arms around him
She looked at me as if I was the stranger, and yet she smiled
I averted my eyes
The next day, his dead body was found beside the river
With no marks other than a sliced back

I closed my eyes

That night, she slept peacefully in my arms

Every day, a new man was in her arms
Every night, I held her trembling body, and prayed for mercy through the haze
Every day, the angels left with another soul
Every night, I knelt in front of the alter

The last night, I returned with a few prayers still fresh on my lips

Her red hair still glinted like river of blood
The smile sharp and happy
I walked and looked around me
The shadow she left behind

The windows were shattered
Furniture overturned,
The victim’s empty sockets gaped at me
Perhaps, still surprised by his death?

The moonlight shined and brightened her
Her looks of death angel
One hand held the knife, the other beckoned me
“I have been waiting, my love”

They never saw it coming
So lost in her beauty and smile
The love which was poison and sweet
The prettier side of death

I held her hand and looked around
Knowing I was to follow
“Do you love me?” “Why, yes”
I never saw the knife coming, just her smile
I closed my eyes.

We shall then certainly meet

a poem by

Vijaya Mehts

Over the majestic mountains many
Early in the dawny hours wee;
When the Sun ascends slowly,
Hark, the music of Life stirring-
We shall, then certainly meet.

When the Sun is at its highest,
Fierce, intense and scorching;
Beneath the huge green canopy,
Blows a cool gust of breeze;
When all the World slumbers…
We shall, then certainly meet.

In the dusky hours of twilight
When the Sun sinks into the seas,
And paints the horizon passionate
With colours: Orange and Pink;
With the promise of the night ahead-
We shall, then certainly meet.

Fault in my stars

a poem by

Aman Arora

In the midst of the night when the dark is sky
I look at the stars and feel shy.

The cause of that is I love a butterfly
And when I see her my heart cry out oh my… oh my!

She is cute and way too sweet
After looking her I can’t stand on my feet.

Is this love I do sometimes wonder
And then God replied yes with a thunder

Just like the drops of the rain
She hijacked my heart and my brain.

I always think is she really made for me?
I dint want my love to become a banyan tree

She is an angel who came from Mars
But sadly there are always faults in my stars

The Pain of a Broken Relationship

a poem by

What pains do we have in our life to Bear,
It sometimes can simply kill you, I Swear.

The hurt, the insults, the pain of Suffering,
Makes the heart bleeding with the sharp Sting.

Words are so painful, it cuts you like a Knife
Slicing your peace and happiness a Rife

Why is it that, the One who you love and care the Most,
Can burn your heart and soul to a black Roast ?

When you love someone, so deeply and Sincerely,
But you are treated so rudely and thrown like a Flea.

Why does the heart still repeatedly suffer and Care,
Why does the soul feel lonely without its other Pair.

A little respect for this love, is all I dare to Ask,
Is giving a little in return, too big to Task ?

The mind wanders blankly remembering sweet Visions,
The air is cold, muffled with drumming sound of Pigeons.

You think of all you did and all you gave, so Wholly,
The things you endured and sacrificed so Boldly.

The lengths you went through to make the relationship Special,
You stare at the broken pieces of your heart in a state of Baffle.

Those little memories, those sms, those emails, those Phonecalls,
You cling onto to them and try to rewind and Recall.

Vividly you see the smile, you hear the laughter, you feel the Touch,
But it does not help you except send tears to your eyes in a Rush.

You wonder where you went wrong, you wonder how it all Happened.
But all you can hear is your own sobs, all you see is a future Blackened.

Never give yourself up so totally, so deeply, you silly Fool,
Have they not taught you to have self-respect and dignity in School ?

So what if that ‘somebody’, was Everything to you in the World ?
So what if you were kicked out by somebody, into the dark Cold ?
So what if you now have no one to Hold ?
So what if you valued that Relationship more than diamonds and Gold?

Nothing last forever, so says the wise Man,
Pick up your little pieces of your heart, while you Can.

Go back to your Life, keep your head up High,
Say you are Happy, even though you know it’s a Lie.
