Gifted

a poem by

Shining in the blaze of enlightened solitude
Reap do I from conscience that abates
Springing forth the magical connection
Of staid ambience with soul’s enrapture
My delight is spelt forth seeking abundance
Of twilight’s deemed promises that cling

Why? I am unable to explain!
Is my sunshine – my sorrow?

Gorgeous in knowing that truth is painful
Yet do I venture to know as it unfolds
In pathways that dampen my spirit of living
Each shock of the moment unduly breaking
My resolve to endeavour life’s struggles
As each pitches a battle of survival

Why? I am unable to sustain!
Is the shade, my peace within?

Never looking back I strive forth
Facing with resolute strength to believe
That no bad can come of good
When felt for mankind at large

Yes! I can explain!
There is shade when the sun shines

Always groping ahead I leave behind
The sorrows that were once mine
Reminescensing the good that came
Of knowing them in the larger context

Yes! I can sustain!
Just as sorrow brings on peace

There is none like him

a poem by

No man ever spoke better than He
No man is ever better than He.

His gaze searches my inmost recesses
And unearths there hidden treasures
His voice most inviting, soothing, comforting
His words most challenging.

His gentle touch heals and restores
His heart brims with the milk of kindness
Dogged and unwearied his feet
Seeking the lost on highways and byways.

In courtesy ever the best
A boundless ocean of mercy
His presence a gentle balm
To the troubled, reassuring calm.

A royal who rode a humble ass
A master who washed disciples’ feet
A prince born in a manger
A god who featured in a census.

I know none kinder than He
Of all the great who walked this earth.

The lights went out

a poem by

I hurried up the stairs I was late that day
Mum would be up waiting for me to return
I opened the door and let myself in
To my surprise she wasn’t there

Each day when I got home she’d be sitting on the chair
Surfing the television until I got there
Then I’d sit by her side and share with her my day
She would passionately hear me out, then we’d pray

I was never religious but it made her happy
So I stopped complaining and the prayers recited
We had each other I was grateful for that
So I’d thank my lucky stars for all I had

I look around the house she isn’t there
No note, no calls, I wonder she be where
Should I make some calls? Perhaps I must wait
At least an hour, she must be caught up somewhere

Has she had dinner? Will she have it with me?
I check out what is cooked, my favourite curry
There was also some dessert I loved her more for that
She took care of all my needs, likes and dislikes

I hear the door open at last she is home
She walks in with a neighbour her movements laboured
I ask what is wrong they do not pay any heed
He walks her to the bedroom I silently follow

‘What’s wrong?’ I ask, ‘Are you alright’
She looked rather pale and strangely withdrawn
‘Mum? are you ok? I’m sorry I’m late
My car got stuck on the way, so the delay’

She doesn’t reply just stares at me blank
Tears well up in her eyes and drop to her lap
Bewildered I watch her tense and upset frame
Why won’t she say anything? Now come tears to my eyes

My neighbour comes back offers her a pill
I ask him to explain but he disregards me still
He puts her to sleep as I look on
Then leaves the room for me to watch

When I awake I am sleeping all alone
I find mum in the chair, seeming vulnerable and hurt
Then I see others around, I wonder why they’re here
They seem stunned and troubled, oblivious of me

I hear a siren, everyone around stirs
My mum stays unmoved I put my arm around her
‘What’s going on mum? Why are they here?’
The door is flung open I wonder who now arrives here

The people struggle as they carry in a coffin
I watch this all dumbstruck, what’s going on here?
Mum begins to cry I try to console her
I move forth to see whose body has been brought here

I see the white dress so a spinster was she
Her gloved hands joined in prayer holding a rosary
Someone places a pillow under her head to elevate her face
I see the girl then shocked I move back
How can this be? She has my face!

This can’t be true! This is a dream!
I will wake up soon and laugh it away
I pinch myself but I feel no pain
I look back at mum, them tears on her face

I now recollect what went wrong with the car
I had lost control and swerved off the path
Into the path of a trailer I crashed head on
There were screeching tyres and the lights went out

People grieve and mourn then went their way
My mum now all alone sits by herself and prays
Tears keep rolling down as she keeps calling my name
Powerless I watch her cry and call my name

Last Laugh

a poem by

He predicts the future through the power of his celestial stick
Predicted that the world is coming to an end at the sight of the ensuing full moon
Be ready to prepare for the doomsday, he alerted his followers
Preached to select the righteous path during the sunset of their life
To yield the eternal glory

His devotees had sung the chorus song in a revered voice
He is divine and his advises are heavenly
He’s god in man’s attire
The door of heaven widely opens in front of us and let him lead us to heaven

He predicts the future through the power of his celestial stick
Predicted that the world is coming to an end at the sight of the ensuing full moon
Be ready to prepare for the doomsday, he alerted his followers
Preached to select the righteous path during the sunset of their life
To yield the eternal glory

To his followers he is god though his actions are like an illustrative magician
When he raises his celestial stick, the magic powers come into life
His powers are without any surmise and beyond the powers of the universe
People who got his blessings realized their wishes without any hurdles
They said in one voice, he’s the reincarnation of god
He makes possible to impossible as there was no word as impossible in his lexicon
There’s no one came back empty handed after his holy darshan
He’s the omni potent and revered by his devotees in full faith and respect

He takes back long ailing illness and return to them a healthy life
Those who wanted to be rich, he made them rich at his free will
The beggars envying the rich led a luxury life as he showered his blessings abundantly
To all those who came to seek from never returned empty handed
The flowers blossomed at the path of his egress route
Emitted the fragrance to make his path as sacred one
He predicts the future through the power of his celestial stick
Predicted that the world is coming to an end at the sight of the ensuing full moon
Be ready to prepare for the doomsday, he alerted his followers
Preached to select the righteous path during the sunset of their life
To yield the eternal glory

The bad men among his devotees took his advices in different way
And thought of leading a luxurious life in the late stage of their life
They sold their properties at throwaway prices and spent their money for boozing
Old men among them got married to younger ones
They danced and sung in the late stage of their life
They got whatever they didn’t get in the late stage of their life
He predicts the future through the power of his celestial stick
Predicted that the world is coming to an end at the sight of the ensuing full moon
Be ready to prepare for the doomsday, he alerted his followers
Preached to select the righteous path during the sunset of their life
To yield the eternal glory

One among his disciples was a traitor as he wanted to attain the glory of his guru
He’s greedy and jealous waited an opportunity to steal his celestial stick
When the divine man goes to sleep

The guru holds his celestial stick in his hands while in sleep
And he seldom keeps it away from his sight as if the stick ensconced in his arm
It looks like an addition attached to his right hand distinguishes others from him
Nothing could be parted him with his celestial stick except his death

The famous magician whose divine advises become the mighty versus
Nobody ignored his advices as they felt he’s the reincarnation of god
He predicts the future through the power of his celestial stick
Predicted that the world is coming to an end at the sight of the ensuing full moon
Be ready to prepare for the doomsday, he alerted his followers
Preached to select the righteous path during the sunset of their life
To yield the eternal glory

One day the treacherous man in his game plan mixed sleeping pills in guru’s late night milk
And served him as a disciplined disciple the contaminated milk
Deceiving every one in the abode when the guru went to long slumber
He had stolen his celestial stick and put a dummy stick in its place
The divine man had lost all his magic powers overnight

When the guru woke up, he got a shivering
He felt like his bones are crushing as if the blood stopped circulation in his body
He raised his hands with the dummy stick ordering it to get him the feedback
He was anxious to know as what went wrong with his divine stick while he was in sleep
Not knowing the stick becomes a mimeograph and his orders could never be carried out
He lost all his divinity and thought his death is laughing at him
When death overrules the destiny of his divinity
He predicts the future through the power of his celestial stick
Predicted that the world is coming to an end at the sight of the ensuing full moon
Be ready to prepare for the doomsday, he alerted his followers
Preached to select the righteous path during the sunset of their life
To yield the eternal glory

The betrayer started to perform with the divine stick he had stolen from his guru
The celestial stick becomes an ordinary stick
As it lost all the divine powers when it was with the divine man
It couldn’t carry out any of his orders as it was too late
When he came to know this naked truth
The power of the stick weaned away from it since the time of the theft
Its divinity had gone for ever as the celestial stick was like a soul to the divine man
Once it was stolen from him, it lost all the divine powers
Like a soul, it cannot be reattached to his body as the divine power lost for ever
It was like a blossoming flower when it was in the stem
Once it was pulled from the stem the flower has without life

The divine man called out his followers
Said to them that he’s going for a long meditation
The wide open doors for all his devotees, then closed for ever indefinitely
He predicts the future through the power of his celestial stick
Predicted that the world is coming to an end at the sight of the ensuing full moon
Be ready to prepare for the doomsday, he alerted his followers
Preached to select the righteous path during the sunset of their life
To yield the eternal glory

When the predicted doomsday arrived, the devotees expecting the door of heaven
Thronged outside at his secluded abode
They were told that he’s still in meditation.

The full moon sighted with a glaring light, but nothing happened to the universe
The life was like any other day and the followers were restless
Those who married at the late stage of their life
Started cursing the divine man one by one
Those who sold their properties to lead a lavish life started stoning at his abode
Although the divine man was still in meditation

The disciples one by one deserted him
And yearned to see an escaping route from the violent mob
The violent mob put the abode in ablaze and within minutes
The debris fallen apart along with the divine body of the divine man
The treacherous world around his abode started laughing at the debris in vengeance
And the laugh still continues
He predicts the future through the power of his celestial stick
Predicted that the world is coming to an end at the sight of the ensuing full moon
Be ready to prepare for the doomsday, he alerted his followers
Preached to select the righteous path during the sunset of their life
To yield the eternal glory

Wintry Grey

a poem by

Listen to the words that the winds are whispering out loud,
Wintry grey, waiting for something
Come to us, give up your life.
And the slow soft jarring against your ears,
You wish you were deaf, though not quite so.

And another interlude…
Waiting for life, they are waiting for death
Wintry grey, they whisper out loud.
And very slowly like a violin riff
You feel yourself leaving, levitating,

Tonight I dance to the tune of ghastly music
See them smile, their wide broad grins,
Intoxicating…
And you give up your life just to hear that tune again
Wintry grey, your soul dances…

And the fire burns…
I feel my skin scorch and wrinkle
It doesn’t hurt, instead,
A strange kind of pleasure
Surges through my body.
I want to give up my life today…
Because it is wintry grey

Unreal Awakening

a poem by

Suddenly my moment of peace
Alarmed and surprised my senses
Forced me awake

The devil! Secretly laughing
Watching us all (the children of god), as fear looms over
Carves lines on every face

Some strange ritual I suppose
Of shedding innocent blood
A salvation! A sacrifice
Unaware children! Had to run

All our moves have already been traced
Surrender! They said! Or we shall burn you alive
Save your little children

Havoc! People shouting everywhere
This is what you call a twisted fate
The revenge of destiny!

Chants and tunes from the deep dark caves
Make people go insane, as it grows stronger
They said Shut up! Just stop it!
Or it will hypnotise, our minds!

Suddenly we got wings to fly, our escape at last
But with it came a surprise, to give up the rest, and to burn
All evils, all goodness, everything or we must fall
To never fly again

Some made a deal with this boogieman
Who promised an escape, to end it all?
For others who did not trust and had to fall
Were sacrificed! In this strange ritual
So what was right and who was wrong!

We will never know I suppose
Because it was we who died
It was death we had to defy
We had to make a sacrifice
To get away, we had to lie!

And there is a price to pay
For what we do or do not do
There is a price to pay, and we sure did
Wake up! Just look around you

I am that

a poem by

I am not the body and I am not the being
I am not the sight and I am not the sound
I am not the smell and I am not the touch
I am not the thought and I am not the understanding
I am not the good and I am not the bad
I am not the love and I am not the hate
I am not the success and I am not the failure
I am not the happiness and I am not the grief
I am not the bravery and I am not the fear
I am not the pleasure and I am not the suffering
I am not the beauty and I am not the ugliness
I am not the past and I am not the present
I am not the journey and I am not the tiredness
I am not the life and I am not the death
I am that…

Unknown

a poem by

Flee the thought,
Of had.
Wings of thee,
Seen the true beauty.
Thy heart,
Knew the glory.
Unknown are the eternal,
Bare no barriers.
Thee whom felt,
Stood with purification.
Tender were the flow,
Of flowers,
Yet strong were those,
Could pave the way.
…within breathes thee.
…within breathes thee.
The answer and question
For unknown.

Between the devil and the God

a poem by

In a murky night
The mad dogs of lust arrive
Mortifying the morals of the living god
Shame and putridity vilify their greed
They will never die
They are immortal
Humanity will cry
Innuendoes slit the throat… obscene
They never repent for their sins
They never remorse on blood they’ve shed
They never hear the screaming pains
Immune to all suffering… die!!!
Promulgate the gospel of the demented
Return to the primitive land of angels
Where the holy men were hunted
And their houses were red… red with their flesh and blood!!!
All the soldiers of truth
Militate to kill the light
Haunting the messiah till he dies
Oooo the wounds infect with dead notions!!!
Wishing all the demons would burn in hell
Missing souls outside that fornicate in moonlight
Chilly winds of the mountains cast the spell
Where the whispers by the devils enchant the night
Here he comes the black shadow
From the pit of rotting skulls he’ll arise
Behind the wall of purgatory
Will begin the moment of his demise
No rhyme no reason for their filthy rules
Hatred oozes from the eyes
Altered visions chronic distaste of the divine
The war won but nobody dies
The warlocks engaged in armageddon
The sufferers deny the judgement
The connection in the destiny
Between the depression and torment
The night will fall the sun will show its face
Empty hearts will fall
With the shine of holy grace
Everlasting cult of the serene multiply
With the cross in their hearts
The Gods will manifest
The darkness will be lost
The light will stay
The almighty blue shall fill the sky
Prevail… the Godly sway
Aeons since the war has commenced
Heaven and hell have been taking turns in winning the wars
Do not know when this conflict will end
Between the devil and the God

A Lesson Learnt Late

a poem by

I used to know a beautiful place
Sparkling with gaiety and grace
And there is where I used to play
All day with friends in great joy.

There were swings and slides and of course jolly rides!
It was amazing there I tell you
With the sparkling waters and sky so blue
It was fun there morn, noon and afternoon
But when the clock struck at twelve midnight
We were asked to leave the place instantly.

But why? why? you may ask?
Staying there alive at dead of the night is an impossible task
Those who disbelieved it as a myth
Have vanished without a trace
Their families and friends grieved
But still there were few who lived to tell the tale…
A tale so cold, so frightening, so pale.

It goes on this way.
One cold dark night in the month of May
Two little boys Noah and Joe
Far away did they wander about and go
They did not care about where they went
And the cold fate sealed their lives was misspent
Sometime passed and the boys were hungry and lost
They wanted to be back home at any cost.

Just as they turned about to go
They saw someone or something at a distance on horseback
The boys approached it with a hope of getting a lift for home
But at what they saw, they became pale and as white as a sheet
Out of fear unknown.

It was indeed a headless ghost of a rider
About whom we were many a time told
Its whole body glowed with garish blaze of burning mould
The boys became dumbstruck and spellbound.

And Joe almost fainted and collapsed on the ground
Noah pulled him up and they ran for their lives
Chased by a ghost who seemed intent
To cleave the frightened boys with his knives.

They ran and ran blindly out of fear
And never was a minute to spare for a breather
Alas! Soon the game was over
For the boys couldn’t be any braver.

It was a dead end
And they could do nothing to defend
“We’ll be together now and forever.” said they to each other
Saying so sadly they jumped over the cliff of the hill
And all over the place did their blood spill.

It was told that their bodies could never be found
Even now it is told we can hear their desperate little wails for help
So shrill, so sad, so desperate, so chill saying
It is folly indeed it is folly.
We didn’t care to heed about
What our elders warned us.
We never listened and made fun.
Oh! Why didn’t we listen?
This is more tormenting than prison.
Oh why? Oh why? Oh why did we have to die?

Thus ended their strange, sad tale
So cold, so frightened, so pale…

deus ex machina

a poem by

The night is dark ’n its half past 12,
fear’s lurking at the corner’s bend.
You’ll feel the pain in your dying heart,
still waiting for his lethal next attack.

Your time’s out, you’ve got your breeding,
cause the creatures here are god damn greedy.
They’ll rip your flesh, they’ll take your soul,
and drag you back into the black hole.

Now they won’t give any reasons,
cause they are here to stay,
so don’t come in the way,
of their playful human sacrifice.
The Demon’s now free
and you won’t disagree
for its not your soul anymore.
Hail this devil!!
and he’ll be your friend,
or you won’t see the sun anymore…

Then you try to wish this night away,
with all your strength you’ll pray for new day,
and you can swear by your mama’s name,
that the creature’s not one of your tames.

The fear’s evident in your f** 2 eyes,
you scream your lungs out,
no one hears your cry,
and then you look at your detritus soul
still believing you’ll come outta the cold.

Now they won’t give any reasons,
cause they are here to stay,
so don’t come in their way
of their playful human sacrifice.
The Demon’s now free
and you won’t disagree
for its not your soul anymore.
Hail this devil!!!
and he’ll be your friend
or you won’t see the sun anymore…

HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA!!

Figures fork
Ink jostles
Gifted space
Urobro pen’s
Retinue the relic
Ecstatic magi quivers
Symbols carry the pulse
Of a rune runs
Faint beatings
Speaks the quaver
Peaks image the phoenix
Each fires the
Each of the phoenix
Carrying the flame
High on the labyrinth

Forever lies in the dark

a poem by

In the arms of eternity
there is a tiny little spark
I have the everlasting in me
see it talk
Everything simmers into nothing
Only I remain
in the vessels of eternity.
Forever living, Forever dark.
Forever does not know
What light is
Forever lies in the shadow
Forever lies in the dark.
