A Sudden Meeting

A Sudden Meeting (Translation of Rabindranath Tagore’s poem)

I met her in train all of a sudden
Never I thought it would ever happen.

Previously, again and again I saw her
Clad in sari red in colour
As red as pomegranate flower.

Today black silk is her dress
The aanchal on her head stays
Encircling champalike fair slim face.

She had created a long distance, I felt,
Around her person’s private belt,

That up to the farthest corner of mustard field extends
And to the deep blue of the shawl forest distends.

My heart came to a standstill manner
The known one I saw in gravity of stranger.

Suddenly she kept the newspaper
And I was genuflected by her.

There opened up the process of social interaction
And we started the conversation—
How’re you, how’s your family going on and so on.

Her glance was through the window outward set
As if glance overcame infliction of days intimate.

She, to a few, in short, replied
To some she completely denied.

Her hand’s restlessness made me realize
Why these words, to keep silent is rather wise.

I was on another bench with her group members
Once she told me to come closer, by sign of fingers.

I thought, not a less courageous wench
Then I sat beside her on the same bench.

Camouflaged in the train’s noise
She said in a low, timid voice,

Don’t you please mind
To waste the time where can one find?

I’ll have to detrain at next station, as I bechance
And towards a distant place you will advance
To meet each other we’ll never get chance.

So the reply to the question so long did itself conceal
I want from your lips; will you honestly reveal?
I replied, “Yes I will.”

Fixing her eyes at the sky outside, she demanded answer,
“Have the bygone days of ours really gone forever,
Isn’t there left a little share?

I kept silent for a while and then said to her
“All nocturnal stars stay under diurnal luster.”

I felt a hesitation, did I artificially utter?
She said, “Stop, now go you there.”

All got down at next station
I alone was in motion.

Erotomania Unknown!

My heart melts
At your sight
Your bright eyes
Is a sight to behold

Your beauty is disarming
Words can’t describe
Your silhouette in moonlight
As your silky locks dance to the arial aria!!

Loving you is a sin
I know we can’t be together
Can’t think of anything but you
Your sight’s my prayer

I don’t know what the future
Holds for you and for me
You belong to someone else
But I stay obsessed for thee

When your hands touched mine
Though You don’t remember it
Is a constant reminder of my madness
Though I wanna forget it

Loving you is not a choice
It is now a flow of emotions
Loving you is a sin
A poison, a desperate dream.

My Erotomania unknown to you
Is what it’ll all finally be
A dream of lost love, a penance forced
My soul longs for you… eternally

The bell

The bell rang not once,
But several times
And it was the moment
She was waiting for.
She drew herself up
to her future.
She stood a while
for she wanted to feel
That once in a while magnetic
Life force vibrating in her soul
And then released the words from the imprisonment
Of her mouth
And whispered slowly
“Yes, I am”

New Found Love

I feel so brand new
All thanks to you,
Your love keeps me going strong
Making me feel like I belong.
You are the ray of light
In all darkness of sight,
I was lost and alone without a clue
I felt like the ocean, so cold and blue.
I think of you day and night
When I see you I feel so bright,
Never had this feeling I’m mind
How your love for me could be so kind.
Although my love is still new
I think I am in love with you.
I love you from my heart
Meaning it’s forever, and never for part.

Love

Real Remains
My heart for your real remains
My heart wins even if I lose you.
The deserts you made don’t count.
For what the selfish reasons behind,
could just be enough to get up to it.
The lights we both lightened,
have to be blown up for the acceptance.
Only the real remains could be fixed
that handles you from me up to end.

Shades of Love

Having you is my desire,
needing you is to be honest.
Love those eyes with Which you admire,
I won’t even let you be modest.

I still remember… a dark cloudy evening
with wind playing as harbingers of our love.
While we stood kissed by each others souls.
Life just seemed to slow down it’s pace;
for it suddenly felt I lived everything that once seemed like a race.

The path was unseen,
the destination was unknown.
The feeling was of innocence
for I felt  I was reborn.

Chaotic Heart !

Do you know how many feelings I carry in my heart,
How do I end my day and how do I start.
Missing you and longing for you is all I can do,
But I wish, as I feel, you feel the same too.

Do you know how many unspoken words I wanna say,
How can I say I keep on finding the way.
Loving you and praying for you is all I can do
But I wish, as I feel, you feel the same too.

Do you know how many dreams I have in my eyes,
How can I fulfill them I keep on telling the lies.
Preaching you and caring for you is all I can do,
But I wish, as I feel, you feel the same too.

Do you know how much pain is deep in my soul,
How do I bear them and keep trying to come out of the whole,
Searching you and urging for you is all I can do
But I wish, as I feel, you feel the same too.

Do you know how much I love you,
I wanna tell but unable to do.
Missing you, loving you, searching you, what else I can do,
I wish, as I feel, you feel the same too…

Blanket of Love

My love for you O’ Dear is greater
Greater than the sky above and oceans beneath
My Love for you is sweeter
Sweeter than the mangoes and melody
In that love will I hold you, hold you deep.

My love for you O’ Dear is stronger
Stronger than the Hercules’ shield.
My Love for you is beautiful
Than the rain in flower-fields.
To that love will I take you, take you steep.

My Love for you O’ Dear is warmer
Warmer than your grief
So that in your cold days
My Blanket of love will cover you
Cover you to sleep.

My Love for you O’ Dear is much more
Much more than what happened to you
Or what you did,
Therefore I will trust you again
Keeping what happened underneath.

Scared about…

Scared to love
Scared to hold
All my stories are still untold
Why’m I afraid of loving
Afraid of been broken;
It’s so easy to take my heart and throw it away
I will stay silent, numb
The only sound you will hear
Is the splashing of my tear
The shivering of my heart
Like a cracking of some craft
So beautiful, hush…
Scared to love
Scared to hold
All these stories, I’ve never told…

Beautiful Eyes

Hey, what is that your cold piercing gaze is searching for?
After breaking my heart into pieces, what you sailed away for

I hope I will find you someday, somewhere at some someplace
But love is what you are, you don’t stay at any place

You are like the shadow of the candle, sometimes here and sometimes there
And in the dark, your sorcery increases more than ever

Hiding and shying from my glances, what kind of behavior is that of yours?
There is altogether different radiance of yours

One stare of yours has changed my life for ever
Your modesty is breadth taking and your charm I will remember forever

Please stop and tell me your name
But I believe just walking away, leaving the heart fluttering is one of your game

Killing people, without telling your name, this unfaithfulness makes you pleasing
Oh innocent lady, this grace of yours is heartbreaking

You are an angel with whom I shared a moment, that will last till the end of my life
It must have been the will of God, that we will be together forever

But like James blunt said it’s time to face the truth
And I will never be with you

On Canvas

On black canvas
larger and deeper
than its geometric measure
she lights the stars
one by one
paths of light and dark
cross in much more
than time and space

On the lighted canvas
she joins broken pieces
of horizon
to shut the reckless sun
from inflicting more wounds
on earth’s flesh

On canvas
in her journey
of self-discovery
through absent colours of love
she splashes darkness with
multi-dimensional hues
dark now emerges
as a source of light
she embarks upon her journey
towards the absolute
seeking Moksha
seeking redemption.

The letters you wrote to me once

Cobblestone pavements
Naughty Kites that once flew into the horizons
The faint aroma of a robusta, rightly brewed
The smell of Jasmines buds, recently sprinkled
The big temple bells’ chime
An old Morris minor, polished chrome gleaming
My English teacher’s lipstick
Grandma reciting grand tales from the Mahabharata
A long competing hooting bout with a Cuckoo
A short rare one with a crow pheasant.
Thoma on his ancient cycle, selling fish
Eliamma’s six felines courting Thoma all the time.
Green from the paddy fields of yore
Red from the fiery musandas
Yellow from the April showers
White from my grandmas starched mundu
Love from your letters
Reached out and colored
All of my remembered universe
Until I safely stored them
For another lifetime.

Come away
The cities have invaded our kind countrysides
Grandma is no more
And the kids of today
Don’t bother with real kites.
We will meet again
And rebuild our little lives
One cobblestone at a time
A path, a pavement, a crossroad at a time.

Deep in the Woods

The velvety sky,
The glimmering stars,
The trees casting shadows,
The moon lit to its full potential,
A lovely place for us,
Only for us…

Hand in Hand,
Treading the shadows of the tree,
The river gurgling down its way,
The moon lighting our path,
We are walking…

There is an eerie silence,
Yet the silence between us,
Is filled with love and understanding,
Penetrating our thoughts,
Revealing our depths of love,
An eternity of love…

Walking down the path,
Your touch soothes me,
Your words calm me,
Every sense is singing,
Tingling with your lingering and balming touch…

Our silence growing weak,
With the moon growing dim,
We are struggling to find words,
Words suppressed inside us,
Now urging to express,
Startled, I turned towards him,
Meeting his eyes,
And before I could say anything,
He tells which my ears were waiting for,
I Love You,
Tears welled up in my eyes, and
All I could say is,
I Love You too.

I let the firefly go

When days grew too bleak and stark,
I clad my world in velvet night.
I kept walking, led by my lamp;
through paths unseen, but not alone.
This steady lamp, it showed me the way
when the moon and stars fell asleep.
The lamp was dear, my only warmth
when all around was cold and dank.
Then I saw the little firefly,
a fallen star gleaming on grass.
Shimmering green and molten gold,
in its allure I stayed awhile.
Dreams I now saw in fair lamplight,
my world I dreamt in fairy glow.
Kissed by magic, I hid that spark
in a glass jar and held it close.
Then I knew that beside my lamp,
the flickering flame would not burn.
The lamp is mine, it shines for me;
it gives light where my feet take me.
My fond star, it shines for the world;
its spry light, but transient charm.
Needing to see, wanting to dream,
I broke my jar and let fire fly.
But this is no end, cannot stop
shadowing incandescent trails.
I must take the arduous road,
a lamp in hand to safely bear.
I must take the arduous road,
a firefly to shelter and care.
I must take the arduous road,
to a place of perpetual light.
