My Friend

a poem by Sri

Wonder, how it would have been if it were
Not you, but someone else
That you are there is a relief immeasurable in words
I can count on you
I know I can make you understand
I know your heart
Just like you know mine.

Wonder how it would have been if it were
Not you, but someone else
That you are there
Is a peace uncountable in years
I can trust you
I know it has been hard for both of us
I know you
Just like you know me.

Wonder how it would have been if it were
Not you, but someone else
That you are there
Is a belief incombustible in doubts
I can rely on you
I know it has rained us both
I know I cannot do without you
Just as you know that too.

Whatever, wherever, whenever
Somewhere, nowhere or everywhere
There’s someone for me and you
Or none there be for me and you
But that there is a friend
I have like none can have, makes me in a new way
To count, trust and rely.
And feel once more
How much you matter to me
You are my one such friend
I would not change for anything else.
