The Facets

a poem by Vandana Senthil

Here she comes,
Her Majesty;
All in grandeur and in splendour.

They call her the living legend,
And bestow her with all the titles
She can adorn.

Her admiration has stoned many
As she is marked for her beauty.
She is dearer to heart,
As she lites up her path.

Then came the testimony of time,
She wondered;
‘Will I prove to be worthy of what I am’.

She stood among the millions,
Then came one and proclaimed;
‘Ah! You are the one’.

She rejoiced; but not for long,
For he said;
‘It is not you madam but the diamonds,
that stole my heart’.
