Breaking Paranoia

a poem by Tiffany Hillen

Anxiety invading
staring at the face
the judgmental face
weeping tears
of a bloody stream
sunshine behind sable clouds
notions aren’t clear
mind is a fit of rage
yanking clumps of hair
ripping the skin off the face
dripping wax; burning the flesh
look at a wall
see the light ahead
no hope of yesterday

Today the wall crumbles down
light filters the air
blanketing warmth and pleasure
filling with thoughts
not the same now
finally at peace
happy
