Shadows

a poem by Tanya Mirchandani

Shadows.
Children of the night
Creations of light
Playing, teasing, laughing

The light tries vainly
To chase them away
But, like thoughts
They are always there.

Cobwebs in corners
Sometimes sinister, sometimes strange
Playing with darkness
Hiding from light

Life is a playground
For darkness and light
Questions unanswered
A shadow’s delight.

Clouds in the sky
Stars in the night
Sunlight or moonlight
I love him with all that is right

There will always be shadows
And there will always be light
When will I get answers
And bring back the light?
