Visiting The Sufis

a poem by Suhas Chavan

You called me. I came.
O Auliya, O Chistiya,
Who am I to say ‘No’?
You alone truly know
the yearnings of my soul;
Who am I to say ‘I know’?
The rose petals that shroud you
day in, day out,
Like them I, being called so easily,
am fortunate;
Even the Badshahs of Hind had to walk barefoot
while seeking your holy presence.
