Friendship

a poem by Shireesh Guru

Holding hands together
swaying in the gentle breeze
we walk through misty lanes
with a somnambulist’s ease

Where to go, we never muse
like a torrent running loose

but we sure know one thing
what the other one is thinking

A real match of thoughts
that’s our relation
it’s a collective freedom
and not an obligation

It’s not an escape
from the truths of life
but a lesson to face
the challenges of life

There’s no place for vengeance
in this bond full of innocence
that’s the bond we’d love to keep
and that’s what we call friendship
