The unaddressed

a poem by Rajesh J

Oh
My descendants!
Leaps of years
Far from reach
What to tell?
And what not?
Call you men,
Women or else?
We the present,
We the past
We the future
Till we last
Tears from eyes,
Smile filled cheeks
What expression
To show my beat?
We the rulers
We the slaves
We who ruled
And enslaved.
Let
Money be unknown
Wars unheard
Religion untouched
Disease unseen
Your Eden may bloom
On our ashes
Yet we would
Breathe in the core
What begins
Is sure to end
But
At who’s beginning
Is who’s end?
God,
A question
At last to ask
Why to begin?
Why to end?
Why to destroy
What we depend?
