Life

a poem by Neeti Mishra

When soul searches an abode to reside,
When death hunts a scrupulous to hide,
Then comes to existence something we know,
A life we live, we love, we pride.
When soul searches an abode to reside.

With hue and cry the journey starts,
With pristine canvas pining for art,
What lies ahead, not always known;
To define destiny, subtly we depart.
Closer to death, on life we ride.
When soul searches an abode to reside.

The strangers hovering above the cradle,
Helplessly expecting we watch them huddle;
Devotion follows apprehensive faith,
They become our strength, our lord, our model.
When scourge befalls, in hearts we hide
When soul searches an abode to reside.

Leading to love, our heart, our mate,
To challenge destiny, struggling fate,
With flaming desires burning emotions,
Scattered we, have mind to collate.
Even the dawn groom, has dusky bride.
When soul searches an abode to reside.

You fought with life, it fought back you,
Death finally won, vital it drew;
You knew it all, frightened to accept,
Soul was the flower, with body as dew.
You lost to death, but life never died.
Soul once again searched an abode to reside.
