The Perfect Guy

a poem by Namrata Dewan

He was the perfect guy
He called me beautiful and not hot
He called me back when I hung up on him
He showed off to the world when I was in my sweats
He wasn’t ashamed to hold my hand in front of his friends
He dedicated songs like a lyricist just fit for the situation
His voice wasn’t less than Bryan Adams
His eyes weren’t hazel but were far better than hazel
When his eyes stared at mine
It felt as if the world could never be a better place
He constantly reminded me
How lucky he feels to be with me
His possessiveness showered his love
His touch knocked me off my feet

That was my Mr. Perfect…
Destiny didn’t like us together
And today we are both a part of two different worlds…
