History

a poem by Nagabhushana

History has no future
And each future has a definite history
Tomorrow’s future is the history the day after
But still, today’s history has no future

What a paradox is this
Today has bearing on tomorrow
And tomorrow is because of today
But the day after, yesterday is insignificant,
And sometimes irrelevant.

This is law of the nature
Climb up the ladder
And forget the ladder
Given a chance, kick the ladder too.

Some call this maturity,
Some call this experience,
Some others call it wisdom.

Answer is only with the Almighty
(Who is most witty)
