Your Poem

a poem by Lathika

I learn as much
from your poem,
the mis-spelt words say
a simple truth that
words stay on paper
but feelings soar
like prayer
and reach out.
So the person there
would surely say
“You did, I do.”

Seasons

a poem by Lathika

Season of innocence
had only eyes
silver and grey
nothing else.
Oh wealth and name
damn damn.
Then another shore
Another goal
The guilt of
an occasional tear.
No more.
Now bereft
In autumn
Bought new leaves
stay
The decayed roots
earth betray,
the eternal way.
So move on… live
And then… forgive.

Rain-blinded

a poem by Lathika

Out of the bus and into the rain
I walked not caring at all
What made me pause was
the sudden obscurity of things
What made my vision dull
was only water on my spectacles
The rain drops were falling on the road
Making tiny boats of thinnest glass
that crumble even as they form
If only these could last
I would weave a little dream
and all day long walk up
and down the country roads
in the rain rain-blinded.

Love

a poem by Lathika

Love,
Like the night gently
on the water lily;
Serene and perfect,
Breathless wonderment,
words that never be,
a mystery.
Hurt that, hurt till
all laughter die,
and moon light freeze
the tears.
