Dream World

a poem by

Kanu Priya Garg

When night falls,
we are in the cozy arms of sleep,
tiptoed it comes and takes us to a new world,
where there is love not hatred,
peace not conflict,
life laughs not mourns,
music flows in air not noise,
there are rustling leaves, singing birds,
smiling flowers, and bright faces,
where everyone is contented,
where there are no boundaries,
where each man has a heart of a child,
suddenly the day dawns,
alas! The dream is shattered…
We face the reality of the hard core world.
Oh! My heavenly father,
let us awake in the dream world
where everyone is contented.

Dreams

a poem by

Kanu Priya Garg

When I was a child
I wished to be a pilot,
To fly in the air like a bird.
When I was in school,
I wished to be an astronaut,
So that I could touch the stars,
And kiss the moon.
Some years later
I wished to be a doctor,
Like my brother,
To heal the ailing humans.
But then…
I was driven by the luxury of life
And wanted to be a businessman.
Alas! my dreams were shattered.
I came down on earth.
Today my vocation is that of a clerk.
Now I wish, some day,
My son will grow up,
To fulfill my dream;
And take up one of my
Dream vocations.
