Abandon

a poem by Jopphar

In the cold of the night I lie awake,
death’s waiting at my door my soul to take,
I sigh as I know my time has come,
death is waiting I can see its form.

Before I close my eyes forever,
I visualise my loved ones, my mother,
farewell all my beloved ones, farewell;
we’ll see each other in heaven or hell.

I said to death “wait my friend,
before my life tonight will end”;
let me say my goodbyes and then I’ll go,
I look around to find there’s no one I know!
