Hope That Survived

a poem by Hameeda Hameed

The weather has shown its gray face
Bringing the threatening thunder.
Why does it say, “cease and die.”
While I am on my life’s race?
The merciless rain showered on me
Fear that refuse to dry.
Darkness has spread everywhere
The black clouds have blinded me.
Accompanied them, the storm with fierce
Sucking away my joy
None came without a gift of sorrow
For another gift, I have no place
Grief has bound me
My weak legs no longer hold me up
As I surrender to death, I hear
The Lord saying, “Come to Me.
Take refuge under My wings.”
I look up and see the light
Making visible ‘the hope’ in me
Which survived everything!
