Wish

a poem by George Briton

Wish I was a star, and you could wish upon me.
Wish I was a rose and you could kiss upon me.
Wish I was the sky and you could soar beyond me.
Wish I was the moonlight and you could bathe within me.
Wish I was the sun and you could count upon me.
Wish I was an ocean and you could sail upon me.
Wish I was the god and you could wish as many as can be.
But,
Alas!
You are not the one you wish and I am not the one I wish.
But I am the one I was if not the one you wish.
