Special Things

a poem by Deepika

It’s the special things in life
that make it mean so much.
the sun, the rain, the sky;
the thoughts and the touch.

If we let these precious things
float out to an endless sea,
we lose our hope, our love,
and most, our reason to be.

When tomorrow starts without me…

a poem by Deepika

When tomorrow starts without me
And I’m not there to see,
If the sun should rise and find your eyes
All filled with tears for me;

I wish so much you wouldn’t cry
The way you did today,
While thinking of the many things,
We didn’t get to say.

I know how much you love me,
As much as I love you,
And each time that you think of me,
I know you’ll miss me too;

But when tomorrow starts without me,
Please try to understand,
That an angel came and called my name,
And took me by the hand,

And said my place was ready,
In heaven far above,
And that I’d have to leave behind
All those I dearly love.

But as I turned to walk away,
A tear fell from my eye
For all my life, I’d always thought,
I didn’t want to die.

I had so much to live for,
So much left yet to do,
It seemed almost impossible,
That I was leaving you.

I thought of all the yesterdays,
The good ones and the bad,
I thought of all the love we shared,
And all the fun we had.

If I could relive yesterday,
Just even for a while,
I’d say good-bye and kiss you
And maybe see you smile.

But then I fully realized,
That this could never be,
For emptiness and memories,
Would take the place of me.

And when I thought of worldly things,
I might miss come tomorrow,
I thought of you, and when I did,
My heart was filled with sorrow.

But when I walked through Heaven’s gates,
I felt so much at home.
When God looked down and smiled at me,
From His great golden throne,

He said, “This is eternity,
And all I’ve promised you.
Today your life on earth is past,
But here life starts anew.

“I promise no tomorrow,
But today will always last,
And since each day’s the same way
There’s no longing for the past.

“You have been so faithful,
So trusting and so true.
Though there were times
You did some things
You knew you shouldn’t do.

“But you have been forgiven
And now at last you’re free.
So won’t you come and take my hand
And share my life with me.”

So when tomorrow starts without me,
Don’t think we’re far apart,
For every time you think of me,
I’m right here, in your heart.

For a while

a poem by Deepika

The park bench
brings to mind
fond memories
of other benches
in other parks
and I smile
for a while…

Virtual Reality

a poem by Deepika

How do I
make you comprehend
the intensity of my love
the warmth of its soft glow
the restlessness inside my self
to make you undust and my desperation
to touch
to feel
to caress
to know
that you are there
the feeling of emptiness in my heart
a void
I turn around to look for you
I see an image of yours
beckoning me
to come close
and share my dreams with you
but as always
when I come near
you drew further
further away from me.

The Depth of My Love

a poem by Deepika

Rivers of my love run deep,
Into the valleys of your heart,
Neither height, nor depth,
Nor mountains too wide,
Could show you,
The depths of my love…

Way beyond the seas,
Throughout all eternity,
Could never show you,
The depth of my love…

Into the sun,
Far beyond the sky,
A thousand tears,
That I have cried,
Could never show you,
The depths of my love…

Forgiveness beyond measure,
Memories to treasure,
Love written as a lullaby,
Enchanted dreams of you and I,
Could never show you,
The depths of my love…

Miles and time,
Song and rhyme,
Money or gain,
Life or pain,
Could never show you,
The depths of my love…

Loving me, embracing me,
Will show you
the depths of my love…

Thank God For You

a poem by Deepika

Sometimes when I take a look
at the hectic world around me,
I feel confused,
but all of the noise fade away
and I forget my worries
when I think about you.

Sometimes I feel overwhelmed by life,
and sometimes I don’t know what to do,
but everything suddenly feels right
when I hear your voice,
and see the light shining in your eyes.

Even if I gaze into a crystal ball,
I’ll never see and understand it all,
but I know that I’d be lost if you went away.
I’d forever seek brighter days.
Thank God for you.

Poem for a cause

a poem by Deepika

Near to the door
he paused to stand
as he took his class ring
off her hand
all who were watching
did not speak
as a silent tear
ran down his cheek
and through his mind
the memories ran
of the moments they walked
and ran in the sand hand and hand
but now her eyes were so terribly cold
for he would never again
have her to hold
they watched in silence
as he bent near
and whispered the words…
“I LOVE YOU” in her ear
he touched her face and started to cry
as he put on his ring and wanted to die
and just then the wind began to blow
as they lowered her casket
into the snow…
this is what happens
to man alive…
when friends let friends…
drink and drive.

A poem so true…

a poem by Deepika

Never say I love you
If you don’t really care

Never talk of feelings
If they aren’t really there

Never hold my hand
If you mean to break my

Never say forever
If you ever plan to part

Never look into my eyes
If you are telling me a lie

Never say hello
If you think you’ll say goodbye

Never say that I’m THE one
If you dream of more than me

Never lock up my heart
If you don’t have the key

Green House Effect

a poem by Deepika

The Green House Effect it is,
in a few decades will destroy the world’s bliss
Barren it will make fertile land,
Crops will be replaced by sand,
Tropics will have snowfall,
And this will effect one and all,
Environmentalist’s advice we didn’t heed
Now we suffer because of our greed,
The results of technology strides,
Are earthquakes and landslides,
Farmland will be devastated,
And wildlife habitats decimated,
At least now let’s rue,
And pay back nature its due,
But Today with thudding hearts, the future we face,
For the “Green House Effect” has surfaced.

a poem by Deepika

If you kiss her, you are not a gentleman
If you don’t, you are not a man.
If you praise her, she thinks you are lying
If you don’t, you are good for nothing.
If you agree to all her likes, you are a wimp
If you don’t, you are not understanding.
If you visit her often, she thinks it’s boring
If you don’t, she accuses you of double-crossing.
If you are well-dressed, she says you are a playboy
If aren’t, you are a dull boy.
If you are jealous, she says it’s bad,
If you aren’t, she thinks you don’t love her.
If you attempt to romance, she says you assaulted her modesty
If you don’t, she thinks you do not like her.
If you are a minute late, she complains it’s hard to wait
If she is late, she says that’s a girl’s way.
If you visit another man, you are not putting in ‘quality time’
If she is visited by another woman, ‘Oh it’s natural, we are girls.’
If you kiss her once in a while, she professes you are cold
If you kiss her often, she yells that you are taking advantage.
If you fail to help her in crossing the street, you lack ethics
If you do, she thinks it’s just one of men’s tactics for seduction.
If you stare at another woman, she accuses you of flirting
If she is stared by other men, she says they are just admiring.
If you talk, she wants you to listen
If you listen, she wants you to talk.
In short,
So simple, yet so complex
So weak, yet so powerful
So confusing, yet so desirable
So damning, yet so wonderful… women.
