I wish you were never born

a poem by Nilutpal Gohain

A pain seeps in every time
I think of your brief existence
But it will never be equivalent
To the agony you went through.

For the very little life you had
I still shudder
As you shuddered
With your broken collar bone
Before you rested on mine.
I still cry
The way you cried
For your frail fragile body
To he held in my arms.

I will never understand
Nor anyone will ever
How you had an unblemished smile
When your whole ensemble twinged

It was a mistake to let you in
To suffer with us mortals
I wish you were never born
I wish you had never fallen.
